Dan Gosling of ChopSaver writes:

“One of the coolest things about building a company is making connections with great people. Here is an example of just that.

This my friend Ed Cooning IV.  Ed first learned about ChopSaver from his marching band days.  Now, he runs marathons (runners LOVE ChopSaver) to raise money for great causes like Jonnie’s Goodguys, the charity he and friends started in memory of a friend who died tragically young from aortic dissection.

Ed has since partnered with other great charities, and one of those is the John Ritter Foundation.  The John Ritter Foundation was created in October 2003, just weeks after John’s sudden death due to an acute aortic dissection.  Formed by his widow, Amy Yasbeck, and their family for the purpose of receiving donations in honor of John’s life, the Foundation is focused on thoracic aortic disease education, support, and research.  So, we thought of a cool way ALL OF YOU can help out too.

Place your order for ChopSaver and receive 15% off the purchase price. In addition, we will donate 15% of the purchase price to the John Ritter Foundation.  Use the promo code RITTER to save 15% on your online purchase AND we will make an equal contribution to the Foundation. For example, order a 6 pack, you save $3.71 and ChopSaver will donate $3.71 to a great cause.

Also, Ed is running the New York City Marathon on November 3rd on behalf of the John Ritter Foundation.  If you would like to make a direct donation to the cause, you can do so by clicking here.  It’s our way of helping people who are trying to make a difference in people’s lives.”

Thank you for your support, Dan and Ed!  This offer is available through September 12, 2013.

The John Ritter Foundation (JRF) is proud to have been selected as an official charity of the ING New York City Marathon for the second year in a row.  The marathon traditionally takes place on the first Sunday in November and this year will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2013.  This is an amazing opportunity to increase awareness of thoracic aortic disease, as well as raise funds to support education and research. We are so honored to have been chosen.

Funds from the NYC Marathon raised for the JRF will go to the John Ritter Research Program in Aortic and Vascular Diseases (JRRP) at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) to identify genes or altered DNA that increases someone’s risk for an acute aortic dissection.  The funds will also be used to provide support, information, and resources to individuals diagnosed with thoracic aortic aneurysms/dissections and their families and for aortic disease awareness and education activities.

Our team is very enthusiastic and motivated to help us in our work to prevent deaths due to acute aortic dissection.  Please read their stories and show your support by making a donation to one or more of our runners by visiting Edward Norton’s Crowdrise online fundraising community:  http://www.crowdrise.com/TeamRitterINGNYCMarathon2013.
